FinMark Trust is committed to skills development and skills upliftment within Financial Sector Development, thereby creating opportunities for graduates to get practical work experience which will complement their studies, while improving their competence and employability. The FinMark Trust Programmes team is responsible for the design and implementation of projects throughout the SADC region. These projects are designed to support individual countries and the region towards increased financial and economic inclusion.

The projects within the Programmes portfolio require both technical and project management skills to ensure timeous delivery of high-quality outputs aligned with impact objectives. The core function of internship involves providing administrative and project management support to assist with the design, implementation, and delivery of projects.

Local Project Coordinator to support stakeholder engagement and research on financial inclusion in Botswana

The primary responsibility of the project coordinator is to keep the study and all related processes running smoothly at all times. The Project Coordinator will work closely with FinMark Trust (FMT), based in Johannesburg, South Africa, who will act as implementing agency for the project and who will provide technical assistance throughout the implementation of the project.

FinScope Consumer Survey Botswana 2024

FinMark Trust invites proposals from reputable research houses/ companies with relevant research experience and expertise to conduct the FinScope Consumer Survey Botswana 2024. The scope of work is provided in the following terms of reference.

Once the selection process has been completed, FinMark Trust will issue a contract confirming the appointment of the research house. If no communication has been received from FinMark Trust after 1 month of your submission, please consider your bid as unsuccessful.

Digitalising income for informal and low-income workers

The project aims to identify and implement, in a pilot, a solution that will enable those employed in the services industry and who rely on tips to receive their tips digitally. The project will further seek to understand tipping dynamics from the perspective of the tipping customers, their attitudes towards tipping, and the impact tipping has on the financial lives of those who receive them.

The pilot will be rolled out in Johannesburg, Midrand and will target forecourt attendants, waitrons, and car guards with the possibility of scaling up the intervention and targeting other sectors, provinces, and the region.

Research on climate change initiatives in South Africa

FMT seeks to appoint a service provider to conduct a research study on climate change combatting initiatives that exist in South Africa with a specific focus on the financial sector’s contribution towards such initiatives and the extent of support provided by these initiatives to low-income consumers and MSMEs. The research study should pay a particular focus on community recycling initiatives with a view to identify areas where FMT can add value to these initiatives. This will require outlining SA’s carbon credit market and exploring how it can add value to recycling and other environmental projects that involve and affect the poor directly.

The insights obtained from the research study described above will be used by FMT to design a programme that will contribute towards combatting climate change while also driving positive economic and social impact for the poor consumers and small businesses.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Internship

FMT requires the skills of a university graduate looking to gain work experience in the field of monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL). This intern will support FMT’s monitoring and evaluation function. The intern will focus on ensuring that several large programmes achieve their intended outputs.

The MEL intern will specifically be assisting in the management of the design and implementation of MEL activities; they will assist the project teams and outsourced monitoring and evaluation specialists in preparing quarterly and annual reports on project progress to monitor the project activities regularly and will assist in the management of data collection and the analysis of different data related to the project activities.
